Man, that's crazy...
Hehe, I've still got the original U6 (5,25" Disks) with cloth map, Moonstone and everything - plus a working 5,25" floppy drive
. I'll just wait a couple of years and become a rich man!

Interesting: My copy of U6 was delivered shortly after it was announced in the U.K. and is on 3.5" discs. I don't remember being given the option when I ordered it

I still have the original 5 1/4's myself...though somehow, through the years, one of the disks got lost. But I know that somewhere, my 5 1/4 U7:BG disks are still archived and well.

Sorry I posted this in the wrong thead earlier, I believe this one is more appropriate.
I have obtained the elusive and thought to be nonexistant game box for Ultima VIII: The Lost Vale.
I posted information and pics if anyone wants to see what it looks like on my website at:
http://www.imaginationoverdrive.com/ultima.htm
An auction is available as of today at:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ONE-OF-A-KIND-Ultima-VIII-The-Lost-Vale-game-box_W0QQit
emZ8225617856QQcategoryZ4315QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
or just search ebay for 'lost vale'
I will check in here later and respond to any questions or feel free to email me. I just wanted to show it to everyone but I got so many offers for it I decided to auction it, being as I am just someone that loves the game but not a collector.

If you dont like that I'm selling it then at least appreciate that I have taken the time to show everyone something that people have wondered about for YEARS. That was my only original intention. I was flooded with offers to buy it when I posted it, so I decided if I would sell it then the only fair way was on ebay. If no one buys it then I will happily keep it for myself. I'm not in the auction business, I own an entertainment company that keeps me busy.
I did somewhat lower the resolution on the scans of the item, (ebay lowered them even more, the ones on my website are pretty clear on my screen) this was at the request of a collector who didn't want there to be counterfeit boxes circulating after they buy the origional. (made from high resolution scans)
I just found your website today, however, there has been much discussion of this over at Dino's. The serious collectors that I have spoken with through email and phone calls that are interested have been in touch with their sources at Origin and have confirmed that it is indeed the real deal.
That being said, I can certainly understand the hesitation to believe that this would all of a sudden pop up after all these years.
Think about it this way. To produce this type of box takes a lot of time and a LOT of money. Much more so than this auction would ever take in. (and BTW the reserve is barely more than the asking price) 10 years ago I released a product that had a printed box and I spent thousands on the tooling, die cut for sizing, films etc... necessary to even produce a single prototype.
I believe this is the box that was probably shipped to Origin (or was supposed to be sent) for final approval before the project was canned.

Corv,
I upped the resolution a bit to make the text a lot more legible, It was pretty unreadable. (especially on ebay).
thanks for the link too! I didn't know If everyone reads the other forums as well. Please accept my apologies, I wasn't intending to imply that you were not a serious collector. It was just poor wording on my part, but hey, its late!
I wish I had thought to keep the original packaging from Ultima I and Akalabeth, I had both when I was a kid. I cant tell you how many hours I spent on UO.
