Seems like a clitch 2006 between Oblivian and Gothic 3
If ya don´t know the Gothic-series (made by a german dev-team), www.worldofgothic.de has now an english website one the run. And G1+2 should be available in US for low-price these days. Even the addon "Night of Raven" still isn´t available outside Europe.

Personally, I hope Oblivion is a place... For nostalgic reasons. Since every Elder Scrolls game since Arena (IE: Daggerfall, Redguard, Morrowind.) has been named after a place or race. The break in nostalgia is no big deal, but more often than not, it is an omen.
Just look at Enterprise. Only Trek series that does not possess the name: "Star Trek", and by far it is the worst Trek series of all.
I'm not convinced a simple name is pointing to a bad game. Just that most of the time, one deviation leads to others, and it may not be the Elder Scrolls type of game we all love.

Ah yes, I remember seeing this preview and almost being in shock, especially when I saw that forest shot. It looks unbelievably breath-taking. I very much enjoyed Morrowind for the variety of locations and the snippets of culture everywhere--even if the main plot didn't take much time.
While I doubt Bethesda is going to move far away from the usual NPC system they have (which I admit is too cookie-cutter for most NPC's), I have very high hopes for it.
The idealist in me had also wondered how possible doing TnK in Oblivion might be. I'd hope that the construction set wouldn't change greatly from Morrowind's, but I'm just a dialogue guy so I know nothing of such things.

Well, not really hell. That is just how they are explaining it to people that don't know TES lore.
Since this is an Ultima forum, I'll give a comparison that I think fits better. It is like the Ethereal Void.
