Happy New Year from the Titans to everyone! Big Grin

Yes, we are still working. You might wonder what happened in the last few months. Well, a few team membes left which is nothing unusual ... and the ones who are still in the team work hard.

Direhaggis finished the outline of the new main plot! (only details have to be worked out still). Zini is working hard on his new found love, dungeons and forests.. and Grodon will most likely get sick if he sees one more palm tree... Wink

Yes it's going well! There is still quite a lot of work to do, but we are on it!

I will also soon (finally) update those infos on the homepage like the "status" and the team page. You will also get some screenshots soon.

Thanks for sticking around!

PS: For those of you who want to play something while waiting I recommend Vanguard - Saga of Heroes (MMO)

Nice to know other ultima fans are playing/Looking at VG as well, generally rare in my experience…

I hope the project finishes soon. I've since finished Morrowind and Oblivion several times over, and have resigned both games to my closet since. Pretty soon I'll have forgotten exactly what this mod is being built on. Tongue

Although now that I think about it... I may want to dig out Oblivion for another run. I'm sure there's a million things on there that I've not yet seen.

Tell me its not true,

I played every ultima from ultima 5 to ascenscion and now i came across a wikipedia reference to a new ultima? This is fantastic news! pardon my stupidity but will it be a online game? hope not? when will it be released?

The best news ive heard!!! cheers to the lads who are making the new ultima!!! theres never been a better RPG NEVER!!!! Im just a mild mannered accountant who has a reason to live again!!! i wish there was a job where i could just be involved in a storyline helping develop ultima!!!

No it will be a pure single player experience with storyline and quests being the top priority.

We are creating a new Ultima IX first (Redemption) which has nothing (or not much) to do with Ascensions storyline. It is a completely new Ultima IX which should satisfy true fans of the series. Ascension was a good game, but I think I don't have to tell you that it was a bit of a letdown.

After Redemption we plan to develop Ultima X - The New King which will be the direct sequel to Redemption (duh).

We are an independet development team and work on this project in our spare time. The game will be completely free. We are not related to EA in any way. So this is not an "official" new Ultima but most likely closer to the orignal old Ultima's than an EA project could be atm.

(Don't get me wrong - I would love to see an official new Ultima, but only if the people who work on it know what they are doing.)

PS: I hope you talk about us and not the weird Ultima X project by EA which has been cancelled. If so forget what I just wrote Wink

The rumor is although the game will be free, you're going to have to pay out your ass for the Ultima Redemption collector's edition t-shirt.

Redemption is an ambition penultimate end to the series in a few ways:

1) Unlike U9:A, we have gone out of our way to explain the biggest plot holes in the series. There's a thread specifically for plot holes people want filled. We've even thought of an explanation for the wacky ray gun and spaceship stuff from U1 and U2.

2) This is an entirely original storyline. Not the Bob White plot, not a redo of U9:A, but something that is Ultima but is different from all the previous games. It'll be most like U7:BG, to my mind. The storyline incorporates elements from all of the main games and some the non-mainstream Ultimas (e.g. UW2).

You can also expect that there are many dialogue variations and contigent responses based on many player choices including party members, virtue choices, quest status, etc.
