I am a software developer and I was thinking of proposing you guys with a new method of interaction for ultima. This could in fact be the best game out there... if done correctly.
I was hoping you already took everything into cosideration, but here I go anyways:
One of the biggest turnoffs in games are stupid glitches and “no-sense” actions. I hate it when if you attack a friend, the plot is NOT broken and you either can continue your quest or you are killed or w/e.
I always wanted a game that is based upon action of the player. A plot that changes depending on the player’s actions.
For example, if one smashes one big hit at Lord British in Ultima 9, you automatically get killed by the guards.
I wondered if you guys could make it so you can go both ways in the game.
Here is an example of one such user-interactive-plot:
1) You are summoned by Lord British to save Britannia
2) Instead of listening to him, you attack him. In return you are sent to jail by his guards (after being knocked out etc.)
a.The player could have listened to LB, and then went on to save Britannia and that’s another path through the plot.
3) You are then saved by the BAD guys in Britannia or something happens and you are free. You have to hide from the guards or you have kill them, etc.
4) You are called upon by the enemies of Britannia to help them and then once again you have a choice of either coming back to LB to ask for mercy or help the bad guys, etc.
5) Or even better, you join the bad guys get to the really worst guy and then prove to LB you are still good by slaying the boss (or guardian or w/e)
This is just one example of a complete user-interactive-plot.
I wish you guys would go in that direction with the story.
Oblivion was really good in graphics and mini-quests. The one thing that it was missing is this plot control. Yes! I know you had different guilds/quests, etc. But your final goal was still the same.
It was just a different way of getting there. The guilds really just helped you get some quests done or get certain items etc.
Oblivion was really close to the user-interactive-plot in the sense that if you attacked a friend, they would hate you. What they missed was a real good story. Ultima has a great story!!! Probably the best story in RPG gaming history. All I ask of you is… Please dont disappoint me. Make the game smart in a sense of user interaction.
I want to be able to disguise myself and hide from the good and the bad guys.
I want to play both sides, I want to be and do what I want. I want to have total control of my own quests and make my own choices in the game.
I know this requires a lot more work and development but let me know what you think.

I at least think it's logical that you're put to death on the spot for assaulting your sovereign lord. Even if you would not be killed on spot, you would be banished from Britannia. The bad guys would not likely help you thinking you insane.
If you would plan to be evil at that point you should patiently listen to old goots rambling, nod, smiling and promissing to help but not really planning to do so unless it serves your own needs and goals. Even after that you should keep your bethrayal a secret, seemingly good on the outside but corrupt and self serving on the inside, as long as possible.
Open defiance and rebelion would only get you killed.

Instead of slaying the boss you should gather enough evidence against the boss and his faction. Slaying people in cold blood would lose you an eight. And you can't do evil acts to get that evidence no matter how much good it would do in the end. You are the Avatar of Virtue and must uphold the Virtues at all times.
I think UV:Lazarus good example of what'll should happen if you do too much evil to save the Lord British/Britannia : After freeing him, he'll thank you but then banishes you forever to another world because you've strayed too far away from the path of avatar

From the look of things, Redemption will probably become my favorite ultima, as it stretches the morrowind engine to its maximum capability.
In the future, more and more crpg players will expect the realism of virtual worlds to increase more and more.
I don't want to rehash everything here, but I hope you seek out some of my posts and comments, and we can all dream together.

I looked at other Web sites and other games that are currently being made for remakes, etc.
This is by far the more advanced and the most orginized.
I think that with determination we can succeed in creating the game.
I know that its hard to create such a smart interface, because there is no AI engine as superior as that for games yet.
It's just a dream I had, an idea for a game.
Perhaps next generation games will be as complex.
As for now, lets all dream together
