Well beside the fact that we don't get 20 spambots each day and that you can upload your avatar again there are cool new features:

- Upload attachments
yes you can upload attachments directly and don't have to upload eg a picture you want to post to imageshack or something similar anymore. Just use the "Attachement" button below your textbox when you post a message.

- Calendar
you can see birthdays of members in there but also important dates from the team. you can also use it to enter you own private things.

- News addon

I will use a new addon which will transfer news posts directly to the homepage. This way you will get more news and faster.

- chat addon

We will also use a chat addon in the future which will allow us to may do some Titans - Fans chats directly here.

- more information

you can not only see where new posts are but also if you already posted in a thread (dot)

- individualization

New function like
- the buddy list
- favourites (you can descibe to threads you like to get messages when there is a new post),
- being able to choose between board and tree structure,
- hide or show sections, ...
could make the board more fun and more useful for you

and most important
- less a pain in the ass
I don't have to spend a lot of time with constant updates, deleting spams,... and the customization of the board is easier too which will ulitmately result in more time for the project itself. I do consider the board part of the project but not the most important one.

Favourite Ultima: Ultima 7 Serpent Isle

I'm not sure which my favourite is... I've gone with Serpent Isle, though Ultima 6 and Ultima Underworld 2 are both up there with it. Followed closely by Black Gate and Ultima Underworld 1.

Yeah, I guess we all have a similar "problem", but it should only quickly show at least in which direction each members taste goes.

Favourite Ultima: Ultima 7 Black Gate

Ultima 6 was an exceptional game itself--in a few ways arguably better than Ultima 7, I think. Certainly the dungeons were more interesting to me and seemed to be much larger.

That and, to this day, nothing really beats the intro and choosing your class sequences--although the original Arena was pretty cool in that regard.

While I like the new forums I'd like to point to few things:

Some of the boxes are in German;
when create a link in a post the txt color isn't changed making it harder to spot;
Ultima 4 title is Quest of the Avatar, not Dawn of Virtue. DoV was the cancelled remake.

Glad to see the forums back in shape though !

Well, a lot of these features I am not new to as the Wing Commander CIC forums have already made the same enhancments some time ago--on a php board no less. Kind of amazing how they have managed to avoid be spammed to death (especially with all the search bots on their).

Anyway, it will be an easy transition. The only thing I don't like is it feels very calustrophopic, very constricted on the boards. Width of the important stuff is too short.

Other than that, it looks pretty cool. Big Grin
