As you can see we have a serious Spam problem. We always have the latest version of phpBB and we activated visual confirmation (to register) but still those people always find holes in phpBB boards and use them. Once you're a victim it won't stop.

So, although I am a fan of open source, we will change the forum software to Burning Board by Woltlab. I know VBulletin and Woltlab are the two favourites of many people and so vBulletin fans might think we should better use that, but Woltlab offers all we need and more.

There is a way to convert the phpBB database to suit Burning Board (I am sure it will be tricky) - this way we can keep all the posts and users. I plan to change the board this weekend. If something goes wrong it will be the weekend after that.

btw: We recently had our 2nd birthday (17 of September).

Ironic that an anti-spam announcement is followed up by a spam-fest of birthday-boosting, but happy birthday anyway.

I kind of wonder if the board wasn't such a freakin' drama all the time whether the game would have been finished months ago!
