I noticed you are using PhpBB, any chance of adding a topic preview mod to the forum. I installed one not too long ago and certainly find it nice to browse topics without heading into the thread.
I'm not sure which is the best but I've used "Mouse Hover Last Post" before.

It certainly seems to work at least.
