Hail thee,

Corv pointed me to this forum, my original post can be seen in the game-forum from www.gameware.at

Here we go,

just bought Ultima 9 US-Version on Ebay, patched to 1,19 (fansite-patch) and have a problem in the 3. or 4. dungeon. I´ve managed Despice and Hythloth and was prisoned while getting my reward at Buc´s Den. I´m now the pride owner of a sword (got it from one skelleton i´ve knocked down with my fists *FG*) and i´m now in a dungeon-area with lava all around. The only way seems to control one statue in the right direction, to fire some fireball at a face sign on a wall. But, nothing happens. I think some way should show up.

Anyone has any hint?

One of two things.

1. It isn't facing the right direction. Plus, there are two heads to shoot at. One brings the moving platform to you. The other removes the forcefield over the teleporter (and is located on the stairs you should have created after you passed the big statue that shoots fireballs when you pressed a button on the wall). Shoot both. Also, to get to the centre platform (if you haven't worked it out yet) you need to press a button on it on the way to the place with the statue you turn and shoot (the moving platform will change directions).

or

2. You are trying to make the big statue shoot fireballs at the face. In which case, stop that and find the smaller statue Tongue

Oooooooooooh. You're talking about that place. You just need to put the face in the right place then use the statue (it'll shoot a magical blue ball at the face I think). From memory, I think if you move the face all the way to the top right and then back two in one direction (down or left) and one in the other direction (down or left) the ball will hit it. Basically, just use trial and error until you get it to hit it.

Also, look around for some... um... stone... thingies in the lava. If you use them you might find some more things to do.

This is a very good walkthrough done by Kuno, but it doesn't do sidequest stuff. Also try

http://www.uhs-hints.com/uhsweb/hints/ultima9/1.php

which also has a pretty walkthrough with everything there is to do in Britannia. And of course you can use google to find about 100 or more other walkthroughs for U9--unbelievable, especially since this number is a guess not an exaggeration.

Search String: "ultima 9 walkthrough"
Returned hits from Google: about 203

Search String: "pong walkthrough"
Returned hits from Google: about 515

Conclusion:
(a) Ultima 9 is not the most walkthroughed PC game of the 20th century
(b) The world is a very sad place

"Ultima 9 walkthrough"
returned hits 206

"Ultima IX walkthrough"
returned hits: 270

"Ultima Ascension walkthrough"
returned hits 162

= 638 hits

So it beats pong by far! Smile

BUT

"monkey island walkthrough"
returned hits: 3800

So the winner is Monkey Island (in the 20th century) Smile

My guess for the 21st:

"deus ex walkthrough"
returned hits: 2950
already

Those two (monkey istland and deus ex) defined a whole genre. Monkey Island is THE Adventure and Deus Ex is THE Action Adventure (some may argue and say that its System Shock though).

I stand...or...uh....sit corrected, but man that is way too many WTs. Although I clarified it to just the PC--Personal Computer--game area and not the video-game orginated area.

Making Monkey Island and Pong not count.

Monkey Island has nothing to do with video gaming. (Thats kinda insulting for this game Wink ). Its a typical point and click Adventure (Mouse!).It came out on the Commodore Amiga and on the PC (only Monkey Island 4, which had nothing to do with the original and with the original dev team under Ron Gilbert came out on the PS2).
