Hey guys! I am so glad to read updates on your project. I haven't checked in since the announcement of Shroud of the Avatar. I agree with what many others have said about the party issue. It is not an "excitement killer." I remember being EXTREMELY disappointed about not having a party in Ascension, but I think that stemmed more from the useless aspect generated by easily exhausted companion dialogues (or just that they were dead). I felt that the friendship U7 built up was just ignored in Ascension.
U7 series was my first Ultima exposure, and it has always been my most favorite RPG of all time, so <that> made the companion issue big with Ascension. I also never got into Pagan which I played when I was older, and it was released on Abandonia. Something about that game just depressed me, and it wasn't the loss of companions haha.
I remember playing the Underworld games though, which were solo, and I didn't mind them being solo. The characters and character interaction was more enjoyable though (I am thinking of the one where Britannia is ensconced in Blackrock; I don't remember if that is 1 or 2). I really think it comes down to STORY. If there is a rich story, with or without companions, I'm hooked.

Yes - it would be nice to know that progress is still being made particularly as Garriott seems to be making so much progress with his "Shroud of the Avatar" project. Probably like the rest of us I have received several e-mails illustrating his progress over the last few months - but then I do accept that his is a commercial venture unlike the Titans' project which has now managed to keep going for so long, it is a tremendous credit to the entire team.

Yes, we are still here! But I want to be honest with you: Progress has not been very good recently. As you know we had trouble with the MW engine while implementing. We are also discussing the structure of the team at the moment to be able to make better progress again in the future.
For being such die-hard supporters, I reward you with a fishing rod

Good to hear. I've been tempted for the past few months to post and ask what's happening with the project. It would be nice to get something of an update every now and again (an update every couple of months or so, for example) if only for the sake of the fans. Not every update needs to be packed with meaty content reveals; we just need to know how the project is progressing so we can wish you all well and give what encouragement we can.
