Sorry about the delay (for a 2nd month in a row). If I told you about IRL, you wouldn't believe me--or at least my capacity for masochism. Anyway...

###**Job Postings**###

Interior Worldbuilders: I know a few of the die-hard forum people have expressed an interest. The construction set is a pain but after the learning curve it's not bad, blah blah blah.

Writers: Britain has ~80 NPC's. Buc's Den, Jhelom, and Moonglow have fewer NPC's. Why should Britain have all the fun? Teach that smug capital a lesson and send me an application (at daath4242 at yahoo dot com)! But on a serious note: if you apply, please do so only if you are williing to really volunteer. That includes the daunting task of going through our team forum.

###**Update**###

Please note that most team members are still working on their same area (see July update). Please note they have actually made progress since July.

Please also note that I'm waiting on some dialogues from newer writers before posting updates on them. It is good to make sure newcomers do not make for new go'ers, so to speak--as is often the inexplicable case with the writing department.

Spyder: Finished some interiors for Moonglow houses. Beautiful as always. Poke us enough and we may leak a screenshot.

Direhaggis: The occasional 16 hour work day and some writer's block got in the way of substantive writing. I filled more main plot holes, got rid of some side quests that require too much implementation, and just this last week I started work on the penultimate part of the main quest. The writer's block is gone, and I abandoned a plot twist that was just not twisting right, so, yeah, onward.

Zini: Implementation of character creation and level stuff. Also collecting all of the cooking recipes you all submitted and putting that in-game.

LSD: Cranking out many colorful NPC's for Britain. You want murders to investigate, there's a quest for that. You want bitter childhood trauma? There's a quest for that. You want +7 vorpal kinky? Same deal. In Britain, there's a quest for just about, well, anything. Kind of.

I've been keeping an eye on this for a while now, and I finally got around to registering on your forum the other day. Good to see you folks are still making progress, too many of these things die before release.

Have to say that I'm eagerly anticipating the results of this project. I've always been a huge Ultima fan and, like many others, Ultima 9 just left a bad taste in my mouth. This project looks like a dream come true for Ultima fans; finally a replacement for the mess that was U9. If I wasn't so darn busy with work & school I would volunteer for something, but I doubt the 1-2 hours a week I could put in would be of any real use to a project like this. If, on the other hand, a contribution of 1-2 hours a week would be a shining beacon of hope - feel free to say so, and I'll volunteer! Big Grin

Keep up the good work!

Good news as usual DH. So far it has been a long haul, you and the team are still at it and I know that there is still much to be done even after the main coding is completed. As usual, we continue to wait with confident anticipation.

@Paul: glad to read that you registered and are keeping up with our progress! It's tough all around for people to dedicate time to a volunteer project.

@Fred-A: always happy to hear from you. I think the only problematic roadblock left is doing interiors for all of the buildings and remaining underground regions. When I finish the main plot, then go back over the whole thing to do an edit for holes, I'll start on that work.

So sooner or later, we will have an alpha. It'd be swell if we had a half dozen interior worldbuilders as an alternative, but I'm doubting that'll happen.

Technically speaking roughly around there, yes. Britain specific and main quest specific NPC's on my end total roughly 48 or so. Yours make up the rest of Britain proper, I believe.

While that may sound intimidating to you all, Britain is a vastly huge city both below and above ground. The word count for each NPC also varies greatly. The next largest city, Minoc, has about 1/2 or less in terms of unique NPCs--so roughly the same feel and scope as U7:BG Britain.

I'll finish by reiterating that we've always made it our first priority to let the player know what they need to do next to advance the plot. Granted, it's not quite as sexy as Mass Effect, but I'd say we're working at roughly the level of Gothic I. That is: you may have to do some searching around the general area, but you should always know where a given NPC is in that general area.

(I have a cold, by the way, so my productivity is going to take a small hit over the next few days).

Get better soon, man!

It's funny how these viruses sweep through us like wildfires. Makes me think there's too many humans on Earth.

I just found this project a few days ago and I must say I'm inpressed by some of the screenshots, I've been a fan of ultima for a long time and I'm pleased to see that someone is continuing it!
I would love to help if there is anything I could do, I have done some world building before (interior and exterioir) in the later construction sets (oblivion and fallout) and from what I see the morrowind construction set is very simalar the only problem is that I dont have much free time so I don't know how useful I would be, but I might be able to do somthing.
I really hope that you manage to finnish this project!
