Some days ago I have found this funny easter egg in the tunnels below Skullcrusher, and on the net there aren't any references to this.

Here is the easter egg: in the room with the large green mushrooms (where there are a lot of pink magic gremlins) I double-clicked by mistake on one of these mushrooms, and noticed that the cursor changed in the green crosshair. I clicked on Iolo and suddenly he shout: "I am the Lizard King! I can do anything!" Frown

, then he started saying randomly some very weird sentences (like these you can get by failing the copy-protection). It seems that the only way of making him shut up is killing him Tongue

(he will continue talking even if sleeping)

This room is beyond the big golden doors in the same room of the Skullcrusher's Serpent Gate, then on the floor below, south of the room with the empty golden chests (hex coords 074, 870)

I noticed that not all the green mushrooms in that room works, and I don't know if there are other places where this happens, nor if this works under Exult, because I'm using DosBox.

Someone else knows about these mysterious hallucinogenic mushrooms?

Wow, that's a very interesting easter egg. I've never personally encountered it before.

Maybe you are right. I tried using the mushrooms on the Avatar, and I noticed that in this case not only he speaks the weird sentences randomly, but also the companions speak the same when you talk to them and all the items in the world are referred as "Oink!" (the same as the copy protection failure).
However I cannot remember anyone in the game saying "I am the Lizard King! I can do anything!". There is also a unique sound effect playing when the character tells this, and after that he will start shaking like crazy.

I actually experienced the same thing back in the day. I was turned on to it when I called in for tech help on getting U8 to run. As he was helping me we got to talking about the places in U7 you could get to by HEX editing and he mentioned the mushroom thing in SI. He said that one of the programmers was a Doors fan and it's from a line of one of their songs. It might not have been a song it could have just been a Jim Morrison quote I don't remember.(too lazy to google it right now) There is also a reference to the "lizard king" thing in a Simpsons episode when while touring DUFF gardens Lisa drinks some tainted water and goes on a psychedelic trip. While tripping she says, "I am the Lizard Queen!"

You are right it is a quote from the song "Not To Touch the Earth", I found that on wikipedia:

It also says that the Lizard King is a character created by Jim Morrison, and is often quoted in various videogames, cartoons, films ecc.
They should add U7SI to the list! Wink
