I wonder if music should be played when in the area around a shrine. What do you think, should it be silent or not?

Hmm... if you think about it there really should be some version of Stones playing there... *ponders*
If there was to be music there, I think it'd be better if it was nice and soft and ambient. Not over-powering.

My personal opinion would be to have something appropriate to the environment surrounding the shrine. I can think of a few where it should be quiet, whereas for others I agree that some version of Stones would work. We've some new ones in that regard which should do the trick.
That's just my opinion, though, not my 'professional' call.

That's one of the things I liked in U9, where the shrines had their own melody before cleansing, and a nicer variation after they've been purified. Alternatively, it would work if the shrine is silent and dead, and music comes on when it comes back to life.

Just my opinion, I think Stones should be reserved for the Moongate rings and Iolo's house (a la U7). Expanding it into the ambient music for the shrines would start to get repetitive. It would start to be associated with too many locations, which would diminish it significance, and it would start to get annoying as it is a long tune (gamewise) that would be played too often.
I liked DH's thoughts of something different from shrine to shrine, based on environment. Or maybe even music based on the represented virtue, like a subdued, mellow tune for Humility and something more pronounced for Valor.

I agree with Kultan about having a different, virtue specific, tune played at the shrines. Maybe silent when you walk up and music starts when you pray or make an offering?
