That's not as if I wasn't familiar with that . But I made prevision for the cost (I have to, sorry to say that) and I hope I will be able to afford the expense.

So- why shouldn't we need new computers or new graphics cards to play Corv's magnificent work when it is finished? I am sure it will be worth both the wait and expense when it finally arrives - certainly if the artwork and "titbits" we receive here are anything to go by!

I agree. I assure you. But I feel I wouldn't wait too long after the game's release to have the possibility to play it. I couldn't discuss some plot element with friends who has discovered the game in the same period. I feel it could ruin some part of the fun. But it is just my feelings. And perhaps my fears will be proved unfunded in the future...

Ouch, stunned. Really wonderful. Pleased

But, if I may ask, will the little elements on the roof not reveal themselves too much resource-consuming? I fear the cost of my PC hardware updates is about to grow... Crying

Talking about Minoc in the news of the homepage. It makes me to follow my thoughts to the gypsies on the road, and then to the use of crystal ball. Will we be able to look at some of those and will we see some kind of in-game cinematic sequence through one of these glass items? (also with the visual effect of a crystal ball.)

Oh, I almost forgot Evil

Thanks for this first Dev's Diary from Kultan Pleased

I suppose he would say :

"And what breed of monkey are you ?"

Without really answering, of course.

Impertinent and proud 'stallion' he is... Wink

Talking of his personality, he could present himself for elections to be the next mayor of Britain... Big Grin ?

Well, I think he hasn't thought of it yet, but he might surely consider this kind of proposition

One more Titan to achieve the titanic project. Cool , Pleased

It would be interesting to read a "developer's dairy by Kultan" to know a little more of his whereabouts. What city, region does he intent to make alive by his words?

It will be done soon enough, I guess Wink

Anyway, it's good news and I hope that Kultan will enjoy being a writer as well as I enjoy the wait of the game with the feeling U9:R will really be great.

Well, if it is not possible to really implement seasons, there will be substantial climatic and regional effects, isn't it? I mean, for example snowy mountainous zones, some doomed island with tremendous wind (and why not small tornadoes if possible Cool ) and rain (Monsoon-like.) And about Vesper, is it still in a desert ?

And small variations (in long time) of some effects could just be taken as seasons. Well, there could also be global climatic problems making the usual seasons concept irrelevant there. That could be a consequence of a strong increase of volcanoes activity in Britannia (and only that since it is not industrialized Evil )

The color of potions is a part of ultima lore, I think. Thus it is difficult to change it but one can develop it (and that is what TOE actually do.)

In fact, the alchemy could acknowledge some advance after the atarkan invasion. There might be as well more contacts from other worlds now...

One can introduce new kind of potion where a slight change of color or the presence of other chemical properties (non-linear reaction with oscillating color change, or gaseous emanation, secondary effect, etc...) make it more difficult to identify...

Maybe not the worst?

Gothic 1 is one of the best crpg games I'd played so far. Ok, the graphisms are a bit old by now, but really, it has some great features:

- good story
- challenging difficulty (well, at the beginning at least; when you get used with the fight system and have some armor, it becomes easier): more than once you'll have to flee before strong opponent
- good voice acting
- contrasted faction philosophies Big Grin

The german team of Piranha bytes has done a great job with this game, and the sequel gothic 2 (with it extension night of the raven) is even better.

Well, fans think gothic 3 need to be correctly patched to be more enjoyable and hope for an extension that will make it more alive. I hope so since the marvelous graphisms are a pleasure for eyes but the gameplay is sometimes really a pain...

Thus, I strongly suggere you give it another try...

Well, to begin with, one must know where is the problem exactly. Then, does it happen with any application or game under DosBox or only with U5?

If it is only with U5, perhaps that can be solved with a re-installation of the game (of course preserve first your savegame.)

If it happens with any application under DosBox, it is most surely that the config files are corrupted (resulting of possible unstability of the 0.63 DosBox version.) In this case, you can install the latest version of Dosbox, or try it dirty by looking the config files of your 0.63 version...

Good luck

(If none of the above works, and if you possess Dungeon Siege, you can try U5: lazarus because it is great as well)

Well that is what it seems, you're right. In the particular case of a Thaumaturgist's consipiracy, my guess was just a possibility of what could be...

As for the power of Arcadion, at any past and present times, I think it does not prevent him to be like a puppet when enslaved by a powerfull summoner (or is it another evil deceit?)

It is not Pyros after all...

Well, I'd rather think it's a consensual interpretation among most fans.

But according to the first possibility I've suggered, Acardion might be bound to give elusive explanations (because they are not clear at all, and that is why it puzzles many people) to the Avatar in order to close the debate before possible very bad issues. For sure, Arcadion is very ambitious and he protects his existence as well.

Thus, one can imagine schemes inside schemes...
And one can play with the possibilies...
One could even combine the two I proposed since the Avatar does not survey the Thaumaturgist (or his true master) and Arcadion at all time...

Last but not least, it's common for a demon to lie or play with truth, when he find freedom to do so of course...

Actually, there can be at least two explanations

- First: the Arcadion of Pagan has been put under control by someone and the new "owner" (Arcadion has really bad karma Evil ) prevent his new puppet to mention anything to anyone but him about the past of the demon.

- Second: Arcadion in the Isle of Fire was summoned beyond Time from Pagan (but after the Avatar met him there...) Thus, in Pagan, Arcadion isn't the older one the Avatar met in U7:BG and freed in U7:SI.

Voila.

What is sure is that the Imbalance started with the 'removal' of the Chaos Serpent. The records of the Imbalance War prove that (Long ago, some Order Serpent followers 'removed' the Chaos Serpent after the death of the Great Hierophant of the Earth Serpent)

As for the storms, what is sure is that they become much stronger as the banes are 'freed'. That makes sense since the Imbalance get even stronger with the actions of Batlin.

But one must not forget the Imbalance grows slowly by itself. Thus, IMO, Batlin acted rather as a catalyst.

The fact that lightning storms welcome the avatar party on SI might also support that they existed before Batlin 'unleashing' actions...

Dragon riding was discussed some time ago but its a "one-seat-only" I guess.

Retriving or repair/construct a Hot-air balloon might be great as well.

The ship looks very cool. As usual with the TOE work, I guess Wink

About the other things usable, will it be possible to upgrade some of those things?

Like obtaining a legendary ship compass that leads where lies what you really want to find. Or buy better cannon, any kind of enhancement, etc..?

Well, I agree with almost everything.

But, first, I must say that my proposition of the inflation theory was just to show that there is, at least, one scientifical theory that supports your philosophical answer. As many people tried to invalidate your demonstration by scientifical arguments, I thought it was good to give more to think about this to everyone.

Second, at first the "what exists" and "why does it exist" questions could be treated separately, that makes sense. But even with logic and philosophy, one must be carefull not to lose himself into sophism (imo, the exemple of creationism is there to warn us one more time.) Thus, when an answer is given, as you pointed, the science becomes usefull to invalidate or support it (and talking about creationism, in its most elaborate expression, it is not so easy to invalidate and science is really helpfull here to refute it.) But then, we see that we must also have some knowledge of "what exists" if we want to make experiments.

Finally, I'd like to say that even if it appairs there could be an infinite number of particule, recent research supports that only a few kind of inner interaction is needed for the whole thing to work: I may propose the good exemples of the emergence of life and of intelligence where a few simple rules and many body can give rise to complexity (with generated new rules and bodies.) One of the main purposes of science is to give us an idea of "what exists" the simplest way possible. Thus, you should not be sick of science anymore , only of bad books Wink
