I was wondering how character creation will be handled.
Will it be like in the older Ultima games that you answer the virtue questions and get one of the eight classes, or will it be like in the later ones that you are no specific class.

Personally I would prefer the virtue questions, but this does not really matter much. I just hope you wont include the "customize class" feature from Morrowind, I dont think that would fit.

You will create your character by answering questions (gypsy). The class system has nothing to do with the MW one.

Greetings,

I am new here, though not entirely new to forums and definitely not online gaming::smiles:: my name is Karalyn and I am a long time follower of the ultima series as well as a 20 year gamemisstress. I originally bought the ultimas with great avidity, but was sorely disappointed when they released nine. It was so because just before EA had promised Ultima Online 2 and that never came to fruition...I think after three failed tries they finally scrapped the project altogether, but it has been too long for me to remember everything correctly.
One thing I really liked in the later ultimas and also the earliest ones is when you got to choose between a male and a female avatar...I didn't like the fact that in nine you could only be male, because ultima tended to throw in extra dialogue and sometimes reactions depending on what gender you were as the avatar. I don't think that you will make the same mistake that EA ( mostly ) made ( because they tended to shove Origin around ) but I would really like to see a female avatar in both 9 and 10 if possible, even if it means adding extra voices...
Please bring back the variety that ultima was once treasured for...including when UO was young...oh the wonderful times I used to have on the atlantic shard, long before the mirror world of Trammel ever came to be. Ultima deserves a place in the hallowed halls of the best rpgs ever made and EA almost destroyed that with the last few flops they tried to produce...as well as making UO a player killing haven now...I did like the storyline for 9 from what I did play, but there was also a serious system issue and even on a high end pentium 3 I could barely play it without slowdown...I might try again since I now have an athalon 2000 ( equiv pent 4 2400 ) but I am hoping that there won't be such a refresh rate problem with your venture, Corv...If the music and screenshots are any inclination of what is to come however, then I think you might just outdo EA's best efforts.
One thing I forgot to note...I think Ultima 6 or 7 pt 1+2 were the best ones...Ultima 6 is my all time favorite though...I must have replayed through the entire game at least 10 times...If I remember right, that is another one where I was disappointed though...I think in the pc version at least, you could only be male...I might be wrong and I don't fully remember, but still, many parts of the game stand out vividly in my mind, especially the spider den and marsh caves...not to mention the complete freedom of exploration, I guess that is what I would most like to see in an Ultima game again...the non-linearity of something like...The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall....possibly one of the best rpgs of all time in my opinion, next to Ultima 6.

As for your request for a female avatar, we answered to this question some time ago: yes, you'll be able to choose between a male and a female avatar, so you, I and all the girls who like Ultima will be able to make a strong and pretty lady (our avatar) save Britannia (again).
