Love the enthusiasum you and your team is showing. I am a big Ultima fan, even loved U8 and U9!

I have just recently discovered the Ultima remakes after being disillusioned with UO after playing it from the beginning. I was even one of the beta testers, and was there when it crashed when some guy named Reins killed Lord British by taking a scroll from a guard and used it on LB. The game promptly crashed. For about a year the game was on the right track. Then EA ruined it. Sad.

This mod is looking like it will be really fun and bring back Ultima to Ultima. Please dont let anything get in the way of you finishing this mod!

Yes I also played Ultima Online for quite some time, and parts were fun - like all the crafting skills, but all in all it went, like you said, in a wrong direction yes. And of course an online game can never give you a story thats as interesting and immersive for you alone as a single player game can do. But UO is not much more than a money-making machine for EA...

Dont worry, this project will not end before its finished. I am serious Wink

Speaking as someone intimately familiar with several Ultima projects, I am extremely impressed with what I see so far, not only in terms of the screenshots and models but the enthusiasm of Corv and the TNK team. This is a truly uplifting sight!

I'm delighted at the vitality, the aims and the possibilities of both of these projects, and I can't help smiling sardonically each time I see "Ultima X: The New King." Hopefully, EA (or LB!) won't see a provocation in it.

I for one would love to see at least the possibility of the new king being a queen. There has long been a leaning towards chauvinism in the Ultima games, which to me and probably others, has retracted from the enjoyment of these otherwise amazingly splendid games (not counting UA.) In essentially taking over the telling of the Ultima story, you have the opportunity to make a difference, and I'll be hoping you seize it.

Well, since two of our team members are female you can bet that females will take a bigger role in the two games - even if this happens simply because we want to avoid that we poor guys in the team will be "hurt" by them Wink

There are still many Ultima shards where you can rokeplay in peace. My girlfriend plays on the Camraich (formerly Sanctuary) shard and she swears to me that it is really worth giving a try because the people there are all between 20 and 50 which has a major impact on the gameplay itself.

Never played the original UO bit it had some nifty features like a realistic economy with limited goods. To bad the less-than-smart powergamers ruined it by killing everything in sight and hording every peace as a trophy.

Oh, and I can't wait to see more about The New King and Redemption. The worst phase is the beginning of development because you have to wait so long until you get a complete picture about the project.

About females, please don't make these "strong" women another Raven-clone. God, I hated her. Why must women in computer games be either the helpless damsel in distress or the SM domina ? Damn male cliches.

Relax, there are two ladies in the team (I am one, the other is MahKina) and we perfectly know how to characterize a "strong" woman in a realistic way, without making her a virago or a princess in distress. Very Happy

Dont worry you will see more of Redemption much sooner than you might think - I am quite far in re-building New Magincia and adding things...
