I noticed in another thread that you were asked if insects would be in the game. I already play Morrowind using the Wilderness mod, which includes butterflies, wasps, hornets etc. Not to mention the myriad mammels, wild and domestic, fish, snakes. birds and so on.

The same with textures. Your test screenshots look great but then again so does the Morrowind version I have after changing the textures and adding some fauna and flora mods, better bodies and replacing inventory icons etc. etc.(altough I don't have that great grass Smile )

What I what I would like to know is, will you be using some of the great material that is already available to the community ( obviously I realise you will be using your own, such as NOM) or will you be doing your own, butterflies for example?

Can anyone use material from anther mod? I assume it's just a matter of etiquette and giving credit to the original creator but I don't have much idea how it works.

Just interested as to how you go about such a large project and how much of Ultima IX: Redemption will be original. It has occoured to me that your team has probably been responsible for the creation of some of the mods mentioned, I only know of the NOM and related mods so forgive my ignorance.

We know of all the mods out there and yes we are using some of them. But more as a base than the whole thing. Models and textures which were made for Morrowind often dont fit into Ultima. Either its a lore problem or a color problem. Morrowind is very pale - grey in grey. But Ultima is more colorful. So you can be sure that not a single mod is just used as it is. There is always improvement possible. Most of the textures are selfmade because of color and quality reasons.
concerning features I have to say (once more) that some features we have were also done for MW already but definitely not the way we do it. So yes there is a smith mod for MW, but it has nothing to do with ours. Some others are used but modified to meet our standards, like the horse riding.

If you want percentages I can roughly say that about 70% of the game are completely original, 20% have other mods as base and the remaining 10% cant be changed because its a mod for MW.

Even the mods which were done by members are not simply implemented but improved and changed to fit into Ultima. You mentioned NOM, yes the hunger/thirst system will be in from it (modified) but the whole cooking system will be completely different - even more fun (really combining ingredients like in the fletching system). Talking of the Fletching System the Ultima Ranger Mod is another Mod which was done by a member and is also in, but also heavily modified and improved. Barabus Houses will be in too, but with modified textures.....

You asked if you can use other mods, yes you can (especially when they were done by members Wink ). You should contact the orignal creator (if thats possible) and mention him/her in the credits.
