Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this message. If not I appologize in advance.
I won't go into too much detail, but I will say that I am 1/2 of a team that has worked on re-creating the Ultima III Exodus world (map) in the multiplayer Ultima Online game. We will be hosting a server of our own using the latest RunUO emulated server. The U3O project started in the spring of 2003 and work progressed till December of 03 when we realized that the current state of the emulators could not do all that we wished it would do to make Ultima III Online come to life. We then zipped up our files and data regarding that project and put it to sleep for an indefinite amount of time. Now, January 2005 we have learned of a new release of RunUO, and after researching we now see that the latest build of the emulator can support most of the plans we had. Finally, we have awoken, and our dream of recreating Ultima III in a multiplayer environment is back on track. We are hard at work to try and bring this game to a finished and playable state. Most of the hard work is already done. The map is 100% finished, and now we just have to do the server side work. We loosely estimate a July 2005 timetable for when the shard will go live for players to join and experience U3O.
Anyhow, enough ramblings about the project. I am posting here in hopes of seeking help from a fellow Ultima III fan who is a musician and might be interested in joining our project by taking up the task of recreating all the original U3 music in modern digital format for use in Ultima Online's gaming client. We would need a musician who can not only recreate the original music tracks of U3, but can also capture the atmosphere and feeling of the original tracks.
If anyone here is interested in joining us as a musician we would welcome the opportunity to work with you to see if we can offer an option to our players where they can download the complete 100% digital mp3 soundtrack from the original Ultima III: Exodus game.
Please email [email protected] if you are interested in joining us, or would like to ask questions about the position.
Also, for those of you who are curious about this project, a website will be going back up soon. Keep checking www.soznet.net. Eventually there will be a link there to the U3O sub site where you will be able to visit our project. |

Well, I wouldn't want to steal your musician or any other projects, but I'm hoping there may be others who aren't dedicated to a project currently and might be interested in joining us. As for your project I am very interested/excitred about it and can't wait for the release. Its amazing how many Ultima type remakes, or based on Ultima games are being made by fans like us. Most of them rival the new crpgs that the commercial companies are releasing. Good luck to all of us, the fans of Ultima.
Sincerely,
John |
