Hallo everyone.

I just found out about this site and the first thing I saw was some amazing screenshots Shocked .

I looked at the features and that looked verry promesing... But I found nearly no information about Ultima, the world, or the storyline.

I have read a few posts and discovered that it has something to do with Brittain and that makes this mod really interesting. So I wonder if some helpfull soul could give links or general information about what Ultima realy is ?

Radier.

Its great that our project makes you want to know more about Ultima! Smile

I try to give you some general information here (inkl. links to sites that you should read):

Ultima is one of the best (known) RPG series in computergame history. It is unlike all other RPGs in terms of gameplay, story and general gamedesign. Each Ultima (well at least from U4 on) has a deep story thats not painting black and white like most of the others do. Also figthing and leveling is not the center of the game. Its all about the story and you being the central part of it. Ultima is also known for its immersive and interactive world. Being able to bake bread, and doing other things like that are also a reason why it became so legendary. Since Ultima 6, Ultima was also kinda benchmark of whats technical possible in computergames. It was always state of the art, but never made this its only good or key feature. The story always kept being the main feature. Quests of the main story never felt like quests - it was all working together. No quests you had to do although they had nothing to do with what you tried to achive. No artificial "making the game longer" quests that are more like work. You always were on top of the excitement scale (if you know what I mean). But dont get me wrong there still were TONS of side quests.

You can read about the general (ingame) Ultima history here: http://www.uo.com/archive/history/

This is also a very good source for Ultima history:
http://www.moongates.com/History/default.htm

And here a short description of the happenings in every Ultima:
http://homepage.powerup.com.au/~gjdanger/Terilem/history.htm

If you want to start playing Ultima (as preperation for Redemption) I highly suggest you play Ultima 7. It contains all of the qualities of Ultima, is playable without any problems because of Exult (download) and still has good graphics despite of its age.

If you want more detailed info go on and ask. We are happy to introduce you to the world of Ultima.

EDIT: and here you can learn a bit about the virtues: http://www.aowm60.dsl.pipex.com/virtues.html

I checked out the links to find out more about Ultima and now I think I know what this mod is built on.

You have a beutiful map over Brittania in the mediasection. May I ask how large the map is compared to Vaardenfell?

Radier.

The map is about the same size. But it will be much more detailed and much better worked out. No boring miles where nothing is going on. Its better that way than having a map thats even bigger than vv but having even less in the world than it (in my opinion at least).
