Its a 3 min video in which you can see how it is to wander around about half of New Magincia. The island is still in the early stages of production. More flora will come and you also will see no NPCs or monsters in the video BUT you will get a first impression of how it will be to wander around in our version of Britannia. And while you see how it is you will also hear how it is because there are parts of two never before released remakes of classic Ultima songs in the video. No trying to be cool fly by's or crazy cuts.. its the real thing! So don't hesitate and go to the Media Section to download it! Smile

You can post impressions here if you want.

Strange - I can't get the video to work in Quick Time, Windows Media Player, DivX Player, or IrfanView...what encoding scheme did you use?

Well I encoded it with TMPGEnc - it works fine in my standard media player. Maybe you should jsut dl the latest version of it. It also runs with every DVD player software (like Intervideo WIN DVD 5)

Its a mpg file. Like I said befoe should work with standard media player (got no complaints so far, but "revies" on other sites, so everyone seemed to be able to watch it), the only codecs I have installed is the standard mp codec pack from ms. you can dl it HERE

Download the latest Media player first.

The board member Guardian posted a link to a free video player which is able to play the NM video. I post it here too to make sure everyone can see the video. Get it here: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (Windows and Linux)

If you have some sort of DVD player software installed it should work too without problems.

You know, I don't know enough about the MPG (or any) video format to speculate, but wouldn't it be funny if somehow the movie was encoded with the improper region for some of us to view?

No thats not possible. An "improper region" which means PAL or NTSC would only mean that the video would play in the wrong speed (in the worst case) - but softwre player usually recognize what region it is. btw: it was encoded in the american NTSC format. Its simply a missing mpg codec. But anyway, it runs with the player above and also if you have any DVD software installed.

Hmmm...I wonder if the other guy who had issues also doesn't have a DVD drive?

Anyhow, it works, it looks good.

Very Happy WtFD

The drive doesn't help - a DVD Player software has to be installed. Just trust me WtFD Smile

Sorry...this is just me at work, now. Something is strange, and athe first solution you gave me should have solved the problem...but didn't. It's just weird to me, especially because I do a lot of video editing and mess with formats periodically and have never encountered this problem.

And because it's strange and weird to me, I wanna know exactly why and won't rest properly until I do.

Well, okay, no, I'm not THAT strange.

Ok although you're after all not that strange Wink here a more detailed story:

TMPEnc (the program with which I combined the music with the avi to make an mpg) makes a svcd mpeg2 (two) file out of it. The codec needed for that is in DVD (software) players and not in every other player. The reason because the first codec pack didnt work is first: because its from M$ and we know how complete their packages are Wink and second: I didnt test it because I have a DVD software on my PC. Thats the whole story. Of course we could blame it all on the Killrathi too...They started their invasion and didn't want certain people to see the video with their future landing spot on it (corn field once again) Wink

Ah, well, that's it then. I have no DVD drive, so I have no DVD software of note.

Thank you for solving the mystery. I can rest now.

Shocked

So, you stay away from this site for a couple of months and without you knowing they release actual footage of the game. Incredible, the old didn't manage to do it in years (the untextured one does not count) Wink

Except for some fetish Corv seems to have for corn the video looks really impressive despite lack of NPCs and fauna.

Keep it coming !

Video won't work for me. I'll take everyone's word for it and 'believe' it might be good. Laughing

EDIT: I also have updated DVD software. So I think my problem may be different from anyone elses.
