Long time lurker, first time poster.

I just wanted to tell you guys that I am so excited by everything I'm seeing here, I'm just wondering if there has been any progress lately. I haven't seen an update for the Developer's Diary for quite a while.

Dont worry, there is progress all the time. The only reason why there were not many news for the public is that I was on vacation and had quite some health problems the last few weeks (I think thats the payback for not being really sick for years now ). But I am fine again and you can also read the latest news on the Homepage

I don't understand what you mean by "new master" on the news update. What is this master you are talking about?

A Morrowind mod consists out of master files and plugin files. Pluginfiles have parent masters which they alter. So a new master is a new parent file where all the plugins which were made so far (by team-members) are included. So a new master is the new parent file for all members to work on = making new plugins based on a master that now contains more material than before (to work with). This also includes art files like new 3D objects or textures or sound effects etc...
